Todos hemos estado ahi dancing at the club, or driving in the car when suddenly a big hit like Karol G’s ‘Tusa’ comes on the radio and you hear the producer tag “O-o-Ovy on the drums”.
Meet Daniel Oviedo, the guy behind the popular tagline and the music producer to some of today’s top Latin Hits, O-o-Ovy On the drums.
Daniel, better known as Ovy on the drums, is another talented artist to emerge from Medellin, Colombia. Ovy solidified his career in la industria when working on Reggaeton’s Pop Star (la ‘bebesita’) Karol G’s Album ‘Unstoppable’.
Pero it was Karol G’s smash hit ‘Tusa’ featuring Nicki Minaj, that would give Ovy On the drums world-wide recognition and his first Latin-Grammy nominations for ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’.
“Tusa” debuted at number one on the Hot Latin Songs, becoming the first song by two lead female artists to debut atop the chart, and also la primera canción by a female act in a lead role to chart at number one since 2016, when Shakira’s “Chantaje” featuring Maluma reached the top.
Tusa’s music video also broke records on YouTube passing the 1 billion mark. It’s now only the second video to do so in 2020, following Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good” video hitting the milestone just one week before on September 18.
Earlier this year, Ovy decided to pursue his dream of becoming a performing artist. He made his debut with “Inolvidable” ft. Beele, followed by “Sigo Buscandote” which features everyones favorite Venezuelan brothers, Mau y Ricky.
