Pitbull & Univision partner to donate tablets to students Nationwide

Univision Communications Inc, the leading Hispanic media company in the U.S., has partnered with global superstar, Pitbull to provide tablets to students in public and charter schools in predominantly Hispanic communities nationwide, including Academica, a global educational community serving over 200 charter schools and a digital learning community. As part of this effort, students received 1,000 Amazon Fire tablets to help them successfully navigate a school year where many districts have transitioned to a remote learning model.

“We are thrilled to help provide Latino families across the country with the necessary resources their children need to succeed in this new educational reality,” said Jessica Rodriguez, CMO and president of Entertainment of Univision. “Univision’s mission – to empower our community – is at the heart of everything we do and we are proud to partner with a true ambassador of Latino culture worldwide and long-time advocate of children’s education Armando “Pitbull” Perez to provide the critical tools children in our communities need for their educational development and success.”

Armando Christian Perez, better known as Pitbull or Mr. 305, created the SLAM Schools (Sports Leadership and Management) to provide an innovative and in-depth secondary educational program that produces college-bound students through emphasis on sports-related majors and post-secondary preparation. He was recently recognized for his altruistic work with the prestigious “Agent of Change” award during this year’s “Premios Juventud,” Univision’s youth-focused awards show which made history in August as the first live awards show on television since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s an honor to join forces with Univision, Academica and SLAM to make sure we are supporting the next generations by investing in their education,” said Armando Perez. “We have to keep moving forward despite how tough it gets out there, and a good education is the best way to achieve this. These students are the future of our country, the world, and it’s an honor for me to be a part of this essential initiative.”
