Premio Lo Nuestro Kicks Off The Year With Star-studded Performances and Wins

Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro,” the first music awards show of the year, kicked off 2021 Thursday night in Miami at the American Airlines Arena. During the gala, “Premio Lo Nuestro” received the Guinness World Record for the longest-running Latin music awards show in the world.

The four-hour celebration began with the pre-show “Noche de Estrellas,” which aired LIVE from the magenta carpet.
 
Maluma, made his world premiere of “Agua de Jamaica” and “La Burbuja” from his recently launched album “#7DJ: 7 Días en Jamaica.” Maluma tambien canto “Hawái.”
 
La noche también invluyo un homenaje al legendario y creador de Fania All Stars Johnny Pacheco. The tribute by “El Caballero de la Salsa” Gilberto Santa Rosa, along salsa star José Alberto “El Canario,” acclaimed music producer Sergio George and popular flautist Néstor Torres, featured the evergreen classics “Mi Gente” and “Quítate Tu.”

Another show-stopper performance included a historic number featuring the king of reggaeton Daddy Yankee and the king of salsa Marc Anthony, who alongside acclaimed producer Sergio George, performed for the very first time together on stage their instant hit “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta.” “Premio a la Excelencia” (Excellence Award) recipient Wisin was honored by reggaeton stars Jhay Cortez, Rauw Alejandro and Zion & Lennox, with a surprise participation by the vallenato, cumbia and pop superstar Carlos Vives. The popular artists performed Wisin’s popular songs “Fiel,” “Mayor Que Yo,” “Vacaciones” and “Nota de Amor.”
 
The queen of reggaeton Ivy Queen came on stage to celebrate “Premio a la Trayectoria” (Trajectory Award) recipient Gloria Trevi. Together, the duo performed Trevi’s popular songs “Pelo Suelto,” “Cinco Minutos,” “Todos Me Miran,” “Grande,” and “Gloria.” 


The star-studded 33rd edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro” also included the following memorable performances:

Pero it was el conejo malo, Bad Bunny who was the biggest winner of the night, taking home 7 awards. Pop sensation Camilo and popular regional Mexican band Grupo Firme won 5 awards each. Global star Karol G, regional Mexican star Lenin Ramirez and bachata king Romeo Santos were also among the top winners of the night with 3 recognitions each. Regional Mexican music superstar Christian Nodal, global urban phenomenon Farruko, world sensation Maluma, international superstar Nicki Minaj and the mega popular band Reik received two awards each.
